Being an authority in your field sets you apart from the competition. It positions you as the “go to” person for potential clients. It garners respect from your peers. It supercharges your marketing.

In short, being an authority is great for business. And I can help you build that authority by helping you write, edit, and market your own book.

Editing, Ghostwriting, and Marketing Content for Lawyers & Legal Professionals

The law is a confusing, and often intimidating, thing for many people. Attorneys have a great opportunity to educate non-attorneys through the content they create and share, whether that’s a how-to book geared towards the layperson or helpful blogs on their websites.

Here’s where I come in. I’ve worked with many attorneys to edit and ghostwrite content and I understand their unique challenges:

  • Following strict guidelines with respect to advertising and marketing to avoid disciplinary action or even disbarment
  • Writing in an approachable, non-jargony way that non-attorneys can easily understand
  • Finding the time to get the marketing done

I work with attorneys and law firms in Charleston, across the state of South Carolina, and in other states to ghostwrite and edit content that positions them as authorities and helps them attract clients. I’ve also twice attended the LEAPP Advertising School seminar at the South Carolina Bar in Columbia on the topic of ethics and advertising rules for SC attorneys to learn about the advertising restrictions South Carolina lawyers first hand. I’ve written for attorneys who practice in many areas, including:

  • Business Law
  • Estate Planning
  • Personal Injury (including motor vehicle accidents)
  • Workers’ Compensation
  • Social Security Disability Insurance
  • Criminal Law (DUI)

If you’re an attorney who’s looking for support to create marketing content, develop and write your book, or edit a completed manuscript, I’d love to hear from you.

About

The short business bio:

Erin Danly is an editor and ghostwriter for attorneys and legal professionals based in Charleston, SC. Erin served three years on the board of the Charleston Chapter of the American Marketing Association, including one year as president. In her free time, Erin dances tango, sings with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra Chorus, and is an active playwright. She lives in Mt. Pleasant with her husband.

The longer story:

I moved to Charleston in 2011 and soon after began my freelance writing business. Over time, I started working with more and more attorneys and found I loved learning about the law as well as taking complex ideas and making them easier to understand for a lay audience.

Since moving here I also began writing for the stage. As a playwright, works of mine have been produced in South Carolina and other states, including a full-length play at South of Broadway Theatre Company in North Charleston in January 2015.

Before Charleston, I lived in New York City where I studied psychology in the postbaccalaureate program and worked as the lab manager of the Primate Cognition Lab at Columbia University. I also hold B.Mus from Washington University in St. Louis and I studied pastry at the Ritz Escoffier in Paris, after which I became a pastry chef in Seattle for a time.

Now you’ve heard my story – I look forward to hearing yours. Get in touch and tell me all about you.
